Voice Lessons
In addition to his teaching commitments in schools, Marten runs a small teaching studio from his home in the South-Eastern suburbs. Marten has years of experience as a Vocal teacher, working with both classical and contemporary voice students, to achieve their best in performance. He also is passionate about helping students to understand vocal anatomy, music style and helping each person to develop good vocal technique that leads to a sustained and healthy singing career. Marten specialises in the preparation of VCE Solo Performance; both Classical and Contemporary students, Music Theatre Auditions and Contemporary music styles. |
Limited space is available for private lessons. Lessons are for a duration of 45 minutes and would be on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Here are some reflections on Marten's work as a Voice Teacher & Specialist
"Marty has worked intensively with students from GGS where his ability to relate to the students, use his pianist skills, especially jazz and improvisation based, and his knowledge of vocal techniques styles have made an immense difference to what our students have been able to achieve, especially in repertoire relating to musicals and contemporary music. His understanding of genre and interpretation of repertoire is outstanding and has contributed to wonderful insights for both staff and students. As a teacher he is very clear and direct in his instruction whilst encouraging students to develop their own voice and style. The master-classes he has given our students have always given them new direction and inspiration to reconsider and further develop their programs to a higher level. I can thoroughly recommend Marty to anyone wishing to challenge and inspire their vocal students"
Colin Iversen - Former Director of Music, Gippsland Grammar School
"Marty has really improved my confidence to sing as a soloist. He is reliable and has a great personalised process for each individual student. The fact that he's also an accomplished singer means that he can teach through providing an example; making technique and repertoire more accessible"
Josh Gavin - Music Theatre Performer, Old Carey Performing Arts Club (OCPAC) & CLOC
"Marty has helped me to grasp the different techniques and setups that are needed to sing for styles of music. I've loved exploring classical, contemporary, music theatre and popular music. He has also provided me with many opportunities to strengthen my performance skills. I am very grateful for these experiences"
Jessica Bakker - Classical Music Student, Bachelor of Music Performance, Monash University
